THE NORTH & THE SOUTH
A 10-DAY GENERAL SIGHT-SEEING TOUR.
Starting
& terminating at Heathrow Airport.
Pick-up from other locations can be easily arranged.
Day 1 Arrive at Heathrow, and we
drive first to the Welsh Borders Region. We will
avoid the main highways for much of the time in
order for you to see the towns and villages along
the way, through Oxfordshire, The Cotswolds District,
to the town of Ruthin. Overnight Ruthin
Day 2 Our day begins
with a drive south to Lake Bala, and then across
the rugged Cambrian Mountains to Llanwyddyn and
Llangollen. Our main attraction for today will be
Powis Castle after which we return via Horseshoe
Pass to Ruthin. Overnight Ruthin
Day 3 From Ruthin
to the town of Beaumaris on the Isle of Anglesey
today. Our route takes us through Denbigh and Llansannan
to Llanrwst, where we follow the estuary through
the Vale of Conway to the Garden at Bodnant. Then
on to the Walled Town of Conway, and the Victorian
Seaside Town of Llandudno before heading for Beaumaris.
Overnight at Beaumaris.
Day 4 Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
is the village with the Longest name in Britain,
and this is our first stop of the day. We then visit
the mansion of Plas Newydd, before heading to the
mainland and the town of Caernarfon with it’s
impressive Caernarfon Castle. Then to Snowdonia
National Park for a scenic driver before returning
to Beaumaris. Overnight Beaumaris
Day 5 First we drive to the town
of Porthmadoc where we take a Steam Train Ride up
to the Slate Caverns at Blaenau Ffestiniog. Then
to Harlech and Harlech Castle, where we follow the
stunning Coastline of Cardigan Bay, to Barmouth
Bay, Dolgellau, Tywyn, The River Dovey Estuary,
and Machynlleth to the town of Aberystwyth. Overnight
Aberystwyth.
Day 6 We continue
to South Wales today, from Aberyswyth first to Devil’s
Bridge, and then across the Cambrian Mountains through
Llandovery, Lampeter, and Newcastle Emlyn to the
Pembrokeshire National Park and Wales’s Smallest
City of St Davids. Overnight near St Davids
Day 7 Today we explore
the City Of St Davids with its Cathedral & Bishops
Palace, before touring the beautiful Coastline of
St Brides Bay and the villages of Newgale, Nolton
Haven, Broad Haven and Little Haven. We return to
the hotel via Haverfordwest. Overnight near St Davids
Day 8 We continue
our tour through South West Wales, first via Pembroke
and Pembroke Castle to the small seaside town of
Tenby. Then through Carmarthen, Bridgend and Cowbridge
on route to the City of Cardiff, Wales’s Capital
City. Overnight Cardiff.
Day 9 The tour for
today encompasses the area know world-wide as “The
Valleys”, and these include Ebbw Vale, and
the Rhumney Valley. We continue to the Brecon Beacons
National Park, and the Black Mountains, before returning
to the City of Cardiff. Overnight Cardiff.
Day 10 You have free
time in the City of Cardiff this morning and you
may like to visit the National Museum of Wales,
Cardiff Castle, and Llandaff Cathedral, or simply
explore the city centre, before we head east, across
the Severn Crossing Road Bridge back into England
and to Heathrow Airport where your tour ends. Overnight
Heathrow.
