A 14-DAY GENERAL SIGHT-SEEING TOUR.
Starting
& terminating at Manchester Airport.
Pick-up from other locations can be arranged.
Day 1
Arrive Manchester, and we drive first to the English
Lake District and the town of Bowness on Windermere,
visiting The Derbyshire Peak District, and our main
attraction for today Chatsworth House, arguably
the Finest Stately Mansion in Britain, and home
of the Duke & Duchess of Devonshire, on route.
Overnight at Bowness
Day
2 A leisurely start today, then first a
Steamer Trip on Lake Windermere. We then head for
the Village of Grassignton, and Dove Cottage the
Home of Poet William Wordsworth, before heading
south via Hawkshead, Conniston Water, and Cartmel
(home of the famous “Sticky Toffee Pudding”)
to Holker Hall. Overnight at Bowness
Day
3 From the Lake District into Scotland
today, driving first over the Kirkstone Pass, then
past Lake Ullswater to Penrith, Carlisle, Gretna
Green, Dumphries, Castle Douglas and Girven. Then
to Culzean Castle, before heading to Wemyss Bay
where we take a ferry to Rothesay, on the Isle of
Bute. Overnight on Bute.

4 A spectacularly scenic day driving from
the Isle of Bute up through the Western Highlands
of Scotland. Our route takes us through Glendaruel,
Glen Kinglas, past Loch Lomond, and through Tarbet,
to Oban Overnight in Oban
Day
5 A day tour of the Lochgilphead Peninsula,
including Seil Island and Easedale, Arduaine Garden,
Loch Fynne, and Inverary Castle. Overnight in Oban
Day
6 North from Oban through the Pass of Brander
and Glen Coe, then up “The Great Glen”
to Fort William, Fort Augustus, along the banks
of Loch Ness, to Invermoriston and Urquhart Castle,
and finally to Inverness.

7 A day touring the Inverness area to include
the Culloden Battlefield Centre and Cawdor Castle,
with free time in Inverness in the afternoon.

8 Leave Inverness and drive south through
Aviemore and The Cairngorms National Park to Edinburgh,
visiting Pitlochry, The Edradour Distillery, and
The House of Bruar, on the way. Overnight in Edinburgh.
Day
9 The day begins with a Tour of the city
of Edinburgh, then in the afternoon you have free
time to wander the Royal Mile, visit Holyrood Palace,
and explore on your own. Overnight in Edinburgh

10 South back into England today, driving
through the Scottish Borders Region and the Northumberland
National Park, we will visit Abbotsford House, the
fascinating home of Sir Walter Scott, and Floors
Castle before heading to the town of Haltwhistle.
Overnight at Haltwhistle.
Day
11 Our day begins with a tour of Hadrian’s
Wall, before we continue south to the City of Durham.
You may like to visit Durham Cathedral before we
continue on to the magnificent City of York. Overnight
in York

12 There is so much to see and do in York
you are spoilt for choice !. We begin with a Walking
Tour of the City Centre (now a pedestrian only area)
and you can visit the magnificent York Minster,
the Jorvik Viking Museum, stroll the city Open Air
Market and the world famous Shambles. Alternatively
some of the group may like to tour the largest Railway
Museum in Europe. Overnight in York
Day
13 Today we first visit Castle Howard,
the stately home you may have seen in the film “Brideshead
Revisited”. Then on to the town of Pickering,
where you take a scenic Steam Train Ride up through
The North Yorkshire Moors to the seaside town of
Whitby We return to York via a Scenic Country Drive
across the moors. Overnight in York
Day
14 Today we travel from the City of York,
back to Manchester Airport. The route will take
us first to Harrogate and then to Skipton where
you might like to stroll through the Open Air Street
Market. Then to Keighley, and Oakworth to Haworth,
former home to The Bronte Sisters. Finally through
Derbyshire to Manchester Airport. Overnight Manchester
Airport.
