SPECTACULAR ENGLAND
A 15-DAY COMPREHENSIVE SIGHT-SEEING TOUR

Starting & Terminating at London Heathrow Airport.

Day 1 From Heathrow Airport we drive north first to Woburn Abbey, home of the Duke of Bedford, before continuing east through Royston, Meldreth, Haverhill, to the fine Elizabethan mansion of Nether Hall at Long Melford.
Then to the “picture-book” town of Lavenham, with its superb Lavenham Guildhall. Overnight Lavenham

Day 2 Today we take a scenic drive along the byways of the counties of Suffolk and Essex, to the area made famous by the artist John Constable. You will have the opportunity to visit Flatford Mill and stand on the spot where Constable painted “The Hay Wain”, and see many of the villages in this picturesque area to include Dedham, East Bergholt, Stratford St Mary, Higham, and Stoke by Nayland, Overnight Lavenham.

Day 3 The County of Norfolk is the order of the day, and we drive first to the City of Norwich. There are a number of places you may like to visit here, including the magnificent Norwich Cathedral, and the Colmans Mustard Museum (home of the world famous hot English Mustard). From Norwich we drive to Sandringham, country home of Queen Elizabeth ll, stopping at a Tradditional Village pub for lunch on the way Overnight Lavenham

Day 4 Our journey today takes us from Suffolk to Lincolnshire, travelling east across The Bedfordshire levels to Market Deeping and to Burghley House. Then across the Lincolnshire Fens through Bourne, and Sleaford to the City of Lincoln. Overnight in Lincoln

Day 5 The day begins with time to explore the City of Lincoln, Lincoln Castle and Lincoln Cathedral, before taking a drive in the country to Dodington House. Then through Sherwood Forest to Newstead Abbey before returning to Lincoln. Overnight in Lincoln.

Day 6 There is so much to see and do in York you are spoilt for choice !. We begin with a Walking Tour of the City Centre (now a pedestrian only area) and you can visit the magnificent York Minster, the Jorvik Viking Museum, stroll the city Open Air Market and the world famous Shambles. Alternatively some of the group may like to tour the largest Railway Museum in Europe. Overnight in York

Day 7 Today we first visit Castle Howard, the stately home you may have seen in the film “Brideshead Revisited”. Then on to the town of Pickering, where you take a scenic Steam Train Ride up through The North Yorkshire Moors to the seaside town of Whitby We return to York via a Scenic Country Drive across the moors. Overnight in York

Day 8 We travel today from the City of York to England’s Lake District. We drive through Harrogate, Skipton, Malham, and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. We continue through Kettlewell to the town of Hawes, famous for the production of Wenslydale Cheese. Then through the towns of Sedburgh, Kendal and Windermere to Bowness-On-Windermere. Overnight in Bowness

Day 9 A leisurely start today, then first a Steamer Trip on Lake Windermere. We then head for the Village of Grassignton, and Dove Cottage the Home of Poet William Wordsworth, before heading south via Hawkshead, Conniston Water, and Cartmel (home of the famous “Sticky Toffee Pudding”) to Holker Hall. Overnight in Bowness

Day 10 We take a tour today to Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberlandshire, the most northerly point of the tour. From Bowness we drive 0ver Kirkstone Pass, past Lake Ullswater to Penrith and Brampton. Then to Lannercost Abbey and finally to Hadrian’s Wall and Haltwhistle. In the late afternoon we return across the rugged hills and fells through Alston, to Bowness Overnight in Bowness

Day 11 Today we have a fairly long drive, from the English Lake District to The North Cotswolds District. Our main attraction for today is Chatsworth House, arguably the Finest Stately Mansion in Britain, and home of the Duke & Duchess of Devonshire, located in Derbyshire. From Chatsworth we continue South to The North Cotswolds Overnight North Cotswolds

Day 12 We take a scenic route through the towns of Stow-On the Wold, Burford, Whitney and Woodstock to Blenheim Palace, our first stop of the day. In the afternoon we drive to “England’s City of Spires”, the City of Oxford. You may like to tour some of The 35 Colleges that of to make up Oxford University, The Asmolean Museum, the worlds largest library, The Bodleian Library, before we return to the North Cotswolds.

Day 13 We head for the South Cotswolds today, but not before we have explored some of the towns and villages that have made The Cotswolds world famous. These include Chipping Campden, Broadway, Winchcombe, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Bibury, Cirencester, and Malsbury, Overnight near Bath

Day 14 The history of Bath is evident from the past 2000 years, and the day begins with a Guided Tour of the City of Bath, followed by a tour of the surrounding South Cotswolds towns and villages of Lacock, Castle Combe, Biddestone. Then to Bradford on Avon for a Traditional English Cream Tea !. Overnight near Bath

Day 15 Free time for further sightseeing or shopping in the City of Bath this morning before heading for Heathrow Airport. The journey takes us east through Chippenham then across the Marlborough Downs to Marlborough and Hungerford, before reaching Heathrow Overnight at Heathrow Airport

Day 1 From Heathrow Airport south-west to Wiltshire, stop at the Prehistoric Site of Stonehenge and then to the City of Salisbury. You can visit the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral or have free time in the town before we head to the world famous garden at Stourhead House. Then north to the City of Bath. Day 2 The history of Bath is evident from the past 2000 years, and the day begins with a Guided Tour of the City of Bath, followed by a tour of the surrounding towns and villages of Lacock, Castle Combe, Biddestone. Then to Bradford on Avon for a Traditional English Cream Tea !.

Day 3 From The City of Bath to the North Coast of Devonshire and the town of Bideford. Our journey takes us first to the City of Wells, then Glastonbury on route to Taunton where we take a Steam Train Journey through The Quantock Vale and along The Somerset Coastline to the Seaside town of Minehead. Then through Exmoor National Park to Bideford. Overnight Bideford

Day 4 First to the spectacular RHS Display Garden at Great Torrington, Then across the Devonshire Countryside following the River Taw Valley to Tiverton, and the magnificent mansion of Knightshayes Court. Overnight Bideford

Day 5 South-west today, along the North Cornish Coastline, through the towns of Bude, Boscastle, Tintagel (of King Arthur Fame), Port Isaac, the fishing port of Padstow and the City of Truro on route to Falmouth.

Day 6 A day touring the County of Cornwall and first to St Ives, where you can explore the town and if it interests you visit the Tate Art Gallery. The we follow the north coastline to St Just, Sennen Cove, and Lands End. Then around the peninsulat to Mousehole, Newlyn, and Penzance. If the tide permits, we visit St Michaels Mount before returning to Falmouth. Overnight in Falmouth

Day 7 A choice of options for today…
If you wish, you can take the opportunity to visit The Scilly Isles (located about 100-miles south-west of the mainland). for the day, and in particular the spectacular Semi-Tropical Garden at Tresco Abbey. This involves a short helicopter ride from Penzance to the Island of Tresco.
OR…..
You can visit the former Pilchard fishing village of Charlestown and The Cornish Shipwreck Museum. Then on to the world famous Eden Project at St Austell. Depending on the time spent at the Eden Project there may be free time later this afternoon to explore Falmouth on your own. Overnight in Falmouth

Day 8 Following the rugged Cornish Coastline north-westerly we drive through Fowey (Foy), and Looe on route to the City of Plymouth. We have a Fish and Chip Lunch at the Barbican from which the Pilgrims left for the New World, then on to up the South Devonshire Coastline to Kingsbridge, Torcross, and Slapton Sands. Overnight at Totnes

Day 9 First a Steamer Trip from Totnes to the Elizabethan town of Dartmouth. Then to Kingswear and the fishing port of Brixham, before heading inland to Buckfast Abbey. We then take a scenic drive across Dartmoor National Park before returning to Totnes. Overnight at Totnes

Day 10 Our final day takes us from Devonshire through Somsersetshire, Dorsetshire, Wiltshire, and Berkshire from Totnes back to Heathrow Airport. On the way we will have time to tour some of the Thatched Villages along the Cranbourne Chase in Dorsetshire, and these include
Axminster, Broadwindsor, Cerne Abbas, and Middlemarsh (of Thomas Hardy fame). Overnight Heathrow Airport

CENTRAL & NORTHERN ENGLAND
AN 8-DAY SIGHTSEEING TOUR

Day 2 First stop today is Leeds Castle described by many as England’s Most Beautiful Castle. Then on to the City of Canterbury where you may like to visit the magnificent Canterbury Cathdral, before heading to Dover where you can visit Dover Castle and the White Cliffs of Dover.

Day 3 West today, from Royal Tunbridge Wells across The South Downs through Billinghurst, Midhurst, and Petersfield on route to Portsmouth, and the Historic Navel Dockyard. Here you can see Lord Nelson’s Flagship HMS Victory, and King Henry the Vlll’s Flagship The Mary Rose. From Portsmouth to the village of Amfield Overnight in Ampfield

Day 4 We travel first to the Ferry Port at Portsmouth where we take The Car Ferry to the town of Fishbourne on the Isle of Wight. This picturesque and intriguing Island located off the South Coast of England seems not to have changed for centuries. We Tour the Isle of Wight, before taking a different ferry from Yarmouth to Lymington back on the mainland, and through The New Forest to Ampfield. Overnight in Ampfield

Day 5 Today takes us from Ampfield to the City of Bath, and our first stop is the City of Salisbury. You can visit the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral or have free time in the town before we head to the world famous garden at Stourhead House. Overnight in or near Bath

Day 4  To Somersetshire today, and first to through the spectacular Cheddar Gorge to the town of Cheddar, home of the world famous cheese. Then to the town of Glastonbury and England’s Smallest City,  the City of Wells. We return via Shepton Mallet to our accommodation for a final night.

Day 5   Today we drive first across the Marlborough Downs to Marlborough, Hungerford and Newbury, and then to the Town of Woodstock, where we visit the magnificent Blenheim Palace. Then on to Heathrow Airport or London where the tour ends.    Overnight Heathrow.London
